Telephone Reassurance

RVSC has a Telephone Reassurance Program for those that live alone and would appreciate a daily call to check on their welfare. If you would like to receive a call or have an elderly relative who lives alone and would like to hear a friendly voice on a daily basis, please call RVSC 269-469-4556.

Congregate Meals 

Provided by Senior Nutrition Services

RVSC serves congregate meals at the center for seniors. If you are over the age of 60 and like to dine with friends, we would love to have you register as a congregate meal member. The meals are prepared by Senior Nutrition Services in Benton Harbor and are delivered to our center on weekdays. The cost of these meals is on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Meals on Wheels

Meals for the homebound are delivered to RVSC on weekdays from Senior Nutrition Services in Benton Harbor and then delivered to you by Senior Nutrition Services volunteers who bring meals, as well as a friendly smile and conversation, Monday through Friday. AARP Volunteer Tax Aide Program

RVSC has volunteers from the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program every tax season to provide in-person tax preparation help to our seniors, free of charge, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low-to-moderate income. Our volunteers are IRS-certified every year, so they understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.

Notary Service

Susan Buckingham, RVSC Transportation Coordinator, is an appointed
Notary of the Public by the State of Michigan for Berrien County. If you need your important documents notarized, call (269) 469-4556 to schedule an appointment and please remember you must bring a photo ID with you.

Loan Closet

RVSC has a loan closet with supplies and equipment available to seniors with a selection of wheelchairs, canes, grabbers, walkers, shower chairs, shower bars, bed rails, crutches, lift chairs, hospital beds, incontinence supplies, and other health and home items available to individuals depending on equipment availability. Foot Care Clinic

Jane Sherwin, RN owner of Blessed Feet, LLC has been providing her foot clinics for 15 years. She loves helping seniors with clipping their toenails/fingernails. Jane offers her services at RVSC twice a month. Clients must have a signed release form from their health care provider prior to their first appointment. The initial appointment fee is $40; all subsequent appointments will cost $30 (checks payable to Blessed Feet, LLC). This is not covered under any insurance.

Monthly Commodities

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to improve the health of income eligible persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods. CSFP eligibility is based on age and income.

Participants must be at least 60 years old and meet the current income guidelines and complete a Michigan CSFP application with the agency that serves their county. Proof of age and residency are required. Income is self-declared.

CSFP is distributed monthly to approved participants every second Wednesday of each month from 12:30pm to 2pm, with an additional pick-up time the following Monday between 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

The CSFP package includes fruits and juice, vegetables, cheese, milk, meat, poultry and fish, plant-based proteins, cereals, pasta, and rice.

Quarterly Commodities

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of income eligible individuals and households by providing them with USDA foods at no cost.

TEFAP foods are distributed at RVSC every third Wednesday in February, May, August, and November from 12:30pm to 2pm, with an additional pick-up time the following Monday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.

Eligibility for TEFAP is self-declared by the participant. You do not need an ID or proof of income. At each distribution you will be required to provide your name, the current State in which you live, how many people reside in the household, and how you are eligible.

USDA foods distributed through TEFAP may include canned, frozen, dried, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, milk and cheese, and whole-grain and enriched grain products including rice, cereal, and pasta.
